Shipping and Payment Information
What methods of payment do you accept?
We Accept Cash in Person as well as all Credit Cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discovery Card etc.
May I pay for my order via e-transfer?
Yes. Please select "E-Transfer" from the payment options tab at check out and follow the instructions. If you are able to send a screenshot or photo of your cart with taxes and shipping total, that would be very helpful!
May I pick up my order?
Yes. Please select "Pickup" from the shipping options tab at checkout and come on down to the Rockpile!
Do you have a print catalogue?
No. Instead, we have chosen to offer our full inventory listing, as an environmentally-friendly, paperless, online resource for you here on the website.
Do you offer free shipping on larger orders?
Yes. At this time we are offering free shipping on all orders over $300. Within Canada and the US only.
When can I expect my package to be shipped after I place my order?
We ship orders twice weekly, generally on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Unless there is a special preparation needed for your order, your order will be shipped between 1-4 business days after we receive it.
How long can I expect my package to arrive after my shipping notice?
Orders within Canada, and to the USA can take between 5 and 10 business days to arrive via Canada Post. As parcels may be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather or postal strike, please allow three weeks after you receive your shipping notice
before contacting us regarding late or missing packages.
Do you ship to the USA?
Yes, we ship to all locations within the USA. Please note that import restrictions to your individual state or region may apply.
Do you ship to other international destinations?
No. At this time we only ship within Canada and the US.
Natural Medicine and Herbalism Information
Where do you get your herbs?
The majority of our products are made from herbs and plants grown right here in our rockpile gardens! Built on Quartz stone and fertile deposits turned up from the river bed during the Klondike Gold Rush. We also wildcraft much of our material from the wild forests and scrub of the pure and clean Yukon Territory. In rare cases we may use high quality commercial sources of herbs to suppliment our limited supply.
What does Wildcrafting mean?
Wildcrafting is the process of gathering plants for food or medicine directly from their natural wild habitat, such as forests and fields.
What does ethical harvesting mean?
Harvesting plant matter from wild spaces with the intention of increasing the growth and well-being of the species, rather than depleting or harming the area in any way. This respect for nature is acheived by cultivating a deep relationship with the land and understanding the way in which each plant grows and its connection to the ecosystem.
Are your products Certified Organic?
No, our gardens do not have Certified Organic status. We craft our products in small batches using wild-grown and home-grown herbs and plants from the Yukon, with high quality bases and carrier oils. Organically sourced whenever possible.
What is a Herb?
In common usage a Herb is any plant and its parts used as a food flavouring, medicine or perfume. Common herbs like mint and sage are digestive and so are used in cooking. Dandelions, our common lawn weeds,are very healing to the kidneys and liver. Many species of flowers, leaves, tree sap, bark, roots, berries, vegetables, sea weed, and mushrooms are all herbs that promote promote health and wellbeing.
Are herbs difficult to grow?
Herbs like heat to germinate, poor soil and some water. Generally, once they are established many come back every year. However, herbs are wild so they can sometimes to tricky to get started. Planting seed directly in the ground where they are to grow is recommended.
When is the best time to harvest herbs?
In the middle of the morning after the dew has dried off the leaves and before the sun gets hot. Generally speaking the best part of a plants life cycle for harvesting leaves or roots would be just as it is beginning to make its flowers. Earlier and the immature plants will not contain the same chemicals or concentrations, too late into flower and the plant will have depleted its resources in the process.
How do I know the Herbal product I am taking is of high quality?
Study the source. If it is made in small batches from wild or organically grown gardens and hand crafted at a small herb farm,most likely it is of the highest quality/potency. Like anything you put in or on your body, research the manufacture and read the reviews.
How much tincture should I take at once?
A general rule is to take 15 - 30 drops 3X daily for the first 3 days, then reduce to 15 drops once or twice daily. As you become accustomed to herbal medicines you will begin to pay attention to what your body is telling you, and with most herbs you can self-regulate your dose. Always ask your herbalist if you are unsure.
Can herbs harm me?
Yes. Some plants contain very powerful chemicals that are not safe to use in large doses, and should only be handled by trained Herbalists. However it is rare that there are any serious side affects from herbs. For the most part herbs are a safe way to heal yourself with next to no negative reactions. Take responsibility for your own health and do your research before you buy, harvest or ingest anything.
Can I take herbs with my other medications from the Doctor?
The vast majority of medicinal herbs a very safe to use alone or along side pharmaceutical medications. Always ask your Doctor about any herbs you would like to use and the possible interactions with your prescibed medications. It is wise to research these "contraindications" yourself, and be sure no issues may occur. Some Herbs and chemicals from plants
can increase or decrease the effectiveness of some pharmaceuticals.
Can I mix different herbs together and take them at the same time?
You will often come across blended tinctures and other herbal products. Many herbs, indeed most, can be safely used together and often will increase the efficacy of the herbal treatments. However, as with Pharmaceuticals, some herbal combinations can have negative effects on your body, or reduce the efficacy the herbal treatment. Always consult a trained Herbalist if you are considering taking different herbs at the same time.
Are western herbal products better than Chinese or Indian ones?
No all herbs have a unique gift of healing, many western herbs have similar counterparts in the Chinese and Indian traditions and can be used interchangeably. For specific ailments one or the other may ideal. Choose what is right for you and available in a high quality form.
